The Father Ignatius Memorial Trust was established in 1966, shortly before the centenary year of the founding of the monastery at Capel-y-ffin.
It had the twin objectives of restoring what remained of the ruined church and tomb, and fostering its use as outdoor place of worship.
Many volunteers have given their time and energy freely to preserve the structure. Damage caused by lightning and frost, as well as the indifferent quality of some of the original construction has presented severe problems over the years, and many reverses.
It is hoped that 2006 will see substantial work to secure what remains of the fabric of the church, and enable public access once more to the tomb of Father Ignatius.
